Accounting and Tax

Tax, financial accounting, bookkeeping and payroll, prepared and lodged by registered practitioners who stay with you all year.

Accurate records and on-time compliance are the foundation of every good financial decision. One team looks after your books, payroll, BAS, financial statements and tax returns, so nothing falls between providers and every figure agrees.

Tax

Tax returns, BAS and year-round planning for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts and partnerships, prepared and lodged by registered tax agents.

Tax affects almost every financial decision you make, yet most people only think about it once a year. We prepare and lodge your returns accurately, and we look ahead so you can make decisions before 30 June rather than discovering their effect afterwards.

Whether you have a single salary, a rental property and a share portfolio, or a group of companies and trusts, one accountant manages your tax affairs and deals with the ATO on your behalf.

  • Business Tax Returns

Before Your Tax Return: What to Gather

Having these ready makes your return faster and helps make sure nothing is missed. Not every item will apply to you.

  • Income statements from employers (available in myGov)
  • Bank interest and dividend statements
  • Rental income and expense summaries from your property manager
  • Receipts for work-related expenses, including a log for car and home office costs
  • Records of shares, property or crypto you sold during the year
  • Private health insurance statement
  • Donations to registered charities (DGRs)
  • Foreign income and any foreign tax paid
  • Personal super contributions you intend to claim
  • Income from a side business, gig work or ride-sharing

Financial Accounting

Accurate financial statements and management reports that lenders, investors, boards and the ATO can rely on.

Financial statements are how banks, investors, members and regulators judge your organisation. We prepare them to the right standard for your entity and explain what they say about your performance and position.

Beyond year-end, we provide monthly or quarterly management reports so you can see profit, cash and trends while there is still time to act on them.

What's Included

  • Annual Financial Statements

Special purpose or general purpose financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and associations.

  • Management Reporting

Monthly or quarterly profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow, with commentary on what changed.

  • Month-End Close

Accruals, prepayments, depreciation and reconciliations completed to a consistent timetable.

  • Budgets and Forecasts

Annual budgets and rolling forecasts built from your actual results.

  • Finance and Lender Reporting

  • Company Secretarial

Bookkeeping

Accurate, up-to-date records every month in SYNE One, ready for BAS, payroll and year-end.

Good bookkeeping is the foundation of everything else: correct BAS, reliable reports and a faster, cheaper year-end. We keep your records current so you always know where you stand.

We keep your books in SYNE One and move your history across from your current records as part of onboarding. Your data stays yours, and you can see it at any time.

Payroll mistakes affect your people directly and can bring penalties from the ATO and the Fair Work Ombudsman. We run your payroll accurately and on time, and keep you informed when rules change.

From the 2026–27 financial year, the Payday Super rules require superannuation to be paid much closer to each payday. We set up your payroll and payments so you stay compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is my tax return due?

If you lodge yourself, individual returns are generally due by 31 October. If you are on a registered tax agent's client list before 31 October, you will usually have later due dates under the agent lodgment program, often into the following year.

How long should I keep tax records?

Generally five years from the date you lodge your return. Some records, such as those for assets subject to capital gains tax, need to be kept for longer.

Does my company need audited financial statements?

Most small proprietary companies do not. A proprietary company is generally required to prepare audited financial reports if it is large, meaning it meets at least two of: consolidated revenue of $50 million or more, consolidated gross assets of $25 million or more, or 100 or more employees. Foreign-controlled companies and those directed by shareholders or ASIC may also need an audit.

What is the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?

Bookkeeping records transactions day to day. Accounting turns those records into financial statements, applies accounting standards and tax rules, and interprets the results.

Which software do you use?

SYNE One. We move your records across from your current software during onboarding, so you start with a complete history.

Can you fix records that are behind or messy?

Yes. Catch-up and clean-up work is common. We quote it separately so you know the cost before we begin.

What is Single Touch Payroll?

STP sends salary, tax withheld and super information to the ATO each time you pay employees. Employees see it in myGov, and it replaces the old payment summaries.

Does payroll tax apply to my business?

Payroll tax is a state and territory tax that applies when your total Australian wages exceed the threshold set by your state. Thresholds and rates differ, so we check this for you.
